The solicitors firms of Dollman & Pritchard of 8 The Square Caterham and Allward & Son of 63 Westhall Road Warlingham are both established local firms which completed a merger on 4th March 2008. Both firms are based on very much a family ethic and have the same ethos and commitment to providing a personal service to clients which have been built up over the years. Both firms in fact began practicing in London, Allward & Son in 1877 and Dollman & Pritchard in 1879.
Dollman & Pritchard are a firm with 6 Partners and are delighted to welcome the two Partners of Allward & Son, Ross Allward and Alasdair Allward, into a situation where the combined firms will be better able to provide expert advice to our clients in today’s increasingly complex and pressurised environment both for ourselves and our clients.
Under the merger arrangements Ross Allward will become a Consultant with the new firm and Alasdair Allward will be a Partner. For the future the merged firms will operate from 8 The Square Caterham which is the current head office of Dollman & Pritchard. There will be no immediate change in the conduct of any matters which are currently conducted by Allward & Son since one of the reasons for the merger is that both firms have very much complimentary services which we offer to our clients. The utmost care has been taken to ensure that the transition of the merger will be as smooth as possible for all of our clients and we are confident that the merger will be in the best interests both for our firms and for our clients.
Jim Burton, the Senior Partner of Dollman & Pritchard, has been with the firm since 1965 and is therefore extremely familiar with the needs and requirements of clients in the area. He says that “we are able to offer advice and practical solutions on issues in a broad field of legal work. We deal with commercial and residential conveyancing and will continue to undertake on our clients behalf all aspects associated with buying, selling, owning or renting properties, including providing Home Information Packs. Our Family Department consists of an experienced team dealing with financial consequences of a relationship breakdown, issues concerning children and relationship planning. This Department also offers Legal Aid availability and are one of the few remaining firms in the area that will do so. They also offer an initial interview of 30 minutes free of charge to any new clients in order to explore their individual needs and whether we can be of assistance to them. Our Probate Department advises on the making of wills, tax planning and wealth management. The specialist team will deal sympathetically with families at this distressing time in their lives. Planning for one’s estate after one’s death has become an increasingly complex matter and we are happy to clarify the issues that are relevant thereto. We can also assist in employment disputes, debt recovery, bankruptcy, insolvency and neighbour disputes. In my own area of criminal defence our team are happy to assist if you should unfortunately find yourself on the wrong side of the law. We can assist from the very first moment of arrest or investigation through to the conclusion of the proceedings whether at the police station or in the Courts. Where possible we can offer Legal Aid which again is something that very few firms are able to provide nowadays.
